Richard has some required community service to do for work, and yesterday I heard an advertisement for volunteering. The website is VCNT.org, Volunteer Center of North Texas, when I heard the advertisement I just caugt the website at the end. It's a really great website, you can register, and then it provides a calendar with available volunteer activites and you can narrow it down by type, location, date. Anyways, volunteering is always more fun when you do it with friends, let me know if you would be interested in doing something with us.

"Sorry my baby crapped on you" and Chorus Line

July 9th, busy day...

Started about midnight with an impromtu night out on the town with Kayla and Tara, that ended with a drunken late night swin and me and Tara sleeping on the couch.

Then there was a wonderful lunch with Nancy and Brenden. I always love hanging out with Nancy, but now that Brenden is around WOW! He is so freaking cute right now, he's almost five months and he just smiles and giggles alot, I really enjoyed his life of the party personality...I wonder where he gets it from? I also think he feels pretty comfortable with me seeing that as soon as I started holding him, he pooped his pants.

After lunch I grabbed a quick nap before I went to my last Dallas Summer Musicals show of the season. I took my cousing Brandi as her 2008 Birthday/Christmas present. We went to dinner at PD Johnson's Deli to keep up with mine and Lisa's tradition, unfortunately I could not partake in the free beer as I had an unfortunate experience with bud light the night before, but the queso sure was therapeutic. Then we headed to the show, which was really wonderful, definately not my favorite of the season, but great. It is one of the 3 longest running broadway shows of all time, it ran for 15 years from 1975 to 1990 and then they revived it in 2006. It had a nice old time broadway feel with big choreographed dance number and ended with all the glam and glitz I think of when I think of broadway. As usual the highlight though was getting to spend time with the cuz!

Kandice was my Inspirattion

Anyone remember the swivel barstools from behind the bar in our house? They were beige and had been seriously damaged by drink spillage. After reading my friend Kandice's blog, I decided it would be a great idea to reupholster them, so I can try to sell them instead of just giving them away. So I went to JoAnns bought some fabric and borrowed Amanda's staple gun, five dollars and 30 minutes later and here's the result....

Anyone need some barstools???

Mom's on Facebook and 4th of July

Richard and I spent the 4th of July with family and friends on Lake Whitney. My mom wanted to have one last big family get together before I headed off to DC and this was it. Most of my cousins and aunts and uncles in the area came down to my parents house for the weekend.

Friday had a rather small group, so we went swimming for a while, then sat out in the front yard drinking beer and eating pretzels (really a great combo), until dinner was ready. Then after dinner Richard and I shared our vacation pictures with everyone on the big screen, I felt like a movie star, lol. Then, I finally got to see Confessions of a Shopaholic, after an hour long struggle and three DVD players.

Aunt Shirley and Uncle Jerry on the boat

Saturday was the main event, the rest of the family arrived early and we spent the morning chatting around the kitchen table, where we decided my mom needed a facebook account. Two of my other aunts were talking about how they are on facebook and the reasons why, and mom felt left out, so I hooked her up, send her a friend request! Anyways, after the facebooking was finished we headed out on the boat, despite rather windy conditions. We ended up having a really nice day, the wind let up and we were out all day. We enjoyed some frisbee, floats, fishing, a great diving and cannon ball contest (Beth it was a TIE!), a little basketball with a flat ball, and some distant fireworks. Most of all it was just nice to spend time with the family, I will miss you all!

The women apparently having a very intense discussion...I love their expressions
