Our Party without an Identity

Saturday, May 2, 2009

If you know me very well at all, you know that I am a person with a lot of big ideas that don't always work out as well as planned. Then at other times it works out better than anyone could've imagined. And that is how it worked out at our party...

At this point in time I am realizing how much I want and need to spend time with the people I love, before we're in DC and get to see people once or twice a year. So I decided having one last blow out in our house would be a fun way to celebrate, but when I was making the evite I couldn't decide on a party theme. So, I tried to give it the longest name in the history of evites, unfortunately there is a character limit.

Initial Name: BBQ, Cinco de Mayo, Last house party, Fish fry, Sangria party, patio party...

Final choice: Our party without an Identity

So as of Friday morning, four people had RSVP'd, plus Me and Richard. By the time the party rolled around there were 17 people and 2 kiddos (Me, Richard, Jason, Amanda, Jonah, Carly, Thane, Stephanie, Oscar, Nancy, Lisa, Steph, Kayla, Daniel, Christa, Mario, Amy, Brent, Matt). It was wonderful to have so many friends and family in one place at one time.

So we were supposed to enjoy our patio and the great spring weather, but instead there were torrents of rain all day saturday. So we moved the party inside, where we enjoyed Sangria and tons of delicious food, but more importantly some interesting conversation. However the highlight of the party came at about 1100...

When our party became the Power Outage Party. Luckily I had plenty of candles on hand, plus a few flashlights, more light than necessary to play Charades!!! The moral of the story: Charades is fabulous, especially when a little alcohol is involved and Nancy and Oscar don't make the rules!!!
